Facedown (Matt Redman)

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Welcomed in to the courts of the King
I’ve been ushered into your presence
Lord I stand on your merciful ground
Yet with every step tread with reverence

[Chorus]
And I’ll fall facedown
As your glory shines around
Yes I’ll fall facedown
As your glory shines around

[Verse 2]
Who is there in the heavens like you
And upon the earth who’s your equal?
You are far above you’re the highest of heights
We are bowing down to exalt you

[Vamp]
So let your glory shine around!
Let your glory shine around!
King of glory here be found!
King of glory!

Our Thoughts

The first verse of this beautiful song paints the picture of our multifaceted relationship with God. We have confidence (by the blood of Christ shed on the cross for our sins) to approach His presence yet we are awed by His majesty and splendour and so tread with reverence. It’s a privilege for the Creator of heavens and earth to call us friends; to adopt us into His family as children who can call Him ‘Father’. Yet as we enjoy this great privilege, we do not lose sight of Who He is and we always must give Him the glory, praise and worship due to Him and Him alone. We must fall facedown (most importantly in our hearts) in His presence…..not just when we take time out to express our worship in words/songs but also with every choice we make daily. Let’s desire and invite His presence everywhere we go by remaining conscious that He is in us and with us – Emmanuel. While at our work places, homes, on the streets, may our heart’s cry be, “King of glory here be found.”
