My Soul Desire (Deniece Williams)

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Lord, when You placed Your hands upon me
I knew that I would never be the same
For in that moment I became Your servant
And since that day, I only have one aim

[Chorus]
My soul desire is to be used
An empty vessel longing to be filled by You
My soul desire is to serve You, Lord
To do Your perfect will
To work each day and build Your Kingdom
This is my soul desire.

[Verse 2]
Lord, I do not seek to claim the glory
I only wish to be under Your control
For I know that You alone are worthy
And it’s You who placed this longing in my soul

Our Thoughts

What is the greatest longing of your heart? What is that desire that overrides every other desire? Is it the acquisition of some material possession, the achievement of some goal, or the attainment of some level of fame or recognition? Or is it to know God more…..to become better acquainted with Him? May we have the same heart’s cry as David (see below) and as the writer of this song.

I’m asking God for one thing,
    only one thing:
To live with him in his house
    my whole life long.
I’ll contemplate his beauty;
    I’ll study at his feet.
(Psalm 27:4, MSG)

As the deer longs for streams of water,
so I long for you, O God.
(Psalm 42:1, NLT)
